Polices and Procedures 

The Trill of Music is committed to safeguarding the well being of its students.  The Trill of Music will at all times show respect and understanding for the rights, safety and welfare of students throughout all lessons. 
The Trill of Music's Child Protection Policy is set in place to promote best practice in the protection of pupils and set out procedural framework to ensure that informed responses to specific issues and minimise  risk with regard to protection and welfare issues.
The Trill of Music will adhere to the recommendations of ‘Children First – National Guidelines for the Protection and Welfare of Children’ (Department of Health and Children 1999) and ‘Our Duty to Care – The Principles of Good Practice of Children and Young People’ (Department of Health and Children 2002).

Garda Vetting:
Before working for and with the public, all employee's must be Garda Vetted. 

Attendance 

In the event of any student absence, please notify Gillian in advance. The Trill of Music does not offer compensatory lessons or classes for absenteeism.
Specific times are set aside for each student. This time is reserved. The teacher cannot give the time away to someone else or fill it again – thus s/he does not have the opportunity to make up the lost income.
If a lesson or class is cancelled because of the teacher’s inability to be there, The Trill of Music will set aside an extra day to make up for this be it within timetable or outside of the original scheduled day.

Code of Behaviour 

  1. Children are to be treated with dignity, sensitivity and respect.
  2. While physical contact may be necessary to instruct a child how to hold/play an instrument, it should be appropriate to the lesson or class, and only take place when it is acceptable to all concerned.
  3. While physical contact is a valid way of comforting, reassuring and showing concern for children, it should only take place when it is acceptable to all concerned.
  4. Children will never be physically punish or be in any way verbally abusive.
  5. Staff should be sensitive to the possibility of developing favouritism, or becoming over involved or spending a great deal of time with any one child.
  6. Children should be encouraged to report cases of bullying to a staff member. 
  7. All complaints and allegations will be met with a response.
  8. Everyone involved should respect the personal space, safety and privacy of individuals.
